Who doesn’t enjoy a delicious sugar cookie with a hot cup of cocoa around the holidays? We love them so much that we decided to search the internet for the very best.
We found a number of different recipes, but believe this one to be the best for several reasons. For starters, it doesn’t require refrigerating before rolling out. Secondly, the addition of cream cheese frosting adds the perfect flavor for those who don’t love an overly-sweet frosting. It’s simply divine.
Enough of the small talk, let’s jump into this amazing Sugar Cookie with Cream Cheese Frosting recipe.
The Good Stuff
First, the ingredients you’ll need for the sugar cookies:
- 1 ½ cup sugar
- 1 cup of Sour Cream
- 1 cup of unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- 4 ½ cups of flour
Now, for the frosting:
- ½ cup of room temp unsalted butter
- 8 oz of cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 cups of powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons of whole milk
Make It Happen
Gather up all of your sugar cookie ingredients and cream everything except for baking soda, salt, and flour. Add those in last.
Roll out your delicious dough and cut into whatever shapes you want. Put them on an ungreased baking sheet and let them bake for 5-8 minutes at 425 degrees.
To make the creamy frosting, add everything except for the powdered sugar and mix, then add in the sugar. Add in milk if it’s too thick, and more sugar if it’s too thin.
