History of First Tennessee Park

As you may already know, the location of this ballpark is significant, as it’s the same spot where the Sulphur Dell ballpark once stood. From the 19th century until 1963, the Sulphur Dell ballpark hosted both Negro and Minor League baseball teams. This includes the six-decade stretch as the home of the Southern Association’s Nashville Vols.

First Tennessee Park officially opened on April 17, 201,5 to a crowd of more than 10,000 fans who came to cheer on the Nashville Sounds during their 38th season opener. During this season, an astounding 565,548 fans visited the park, making it the highest attended season.

The Nashville Sounds’ Upcoming Games

Throughout the rest of June, the Sounds will be playing just about every day with four of those games being home games. You can visit First Tennessee Park to see the Sounds play the Round Rocks every day from June 21 until June 24. Though if you feel like traveling, you can see the Sounds play at Reno, El Paso, Oklahoma City, Tacoma, and Albuquerque.

Other Events at First Tennessee Park

One place many fans fav about is a gathering spot within the park known as “The Band Box.” This is an outdoor bar and restaurant that features a range of entertainment options like ping pong, cornhole, foosball and shuffleboard. The atmosphere here is super laid back, making it perfect for socializing with friends while watching the game. This takes going to watch a game at the park to a whole new level of fun.

Along with catching a Sounds’ baseball game and enjoying time with friends, there are many other events you can attend at First Tennessee Park. While this state-of-the-art facility was built for baseball, it’s incredibly versatile, allowing for a range of other events, and that’s why you’ll often find concerts, chartable walks/runs, and even soccer games. There’s also a club level and lounge you can rent out that’s perfect for more intimate events like business meetings, baby showers, and other celebrations.
